Certified translation of Certificates of Good Standing
Many people outside the UK do not realise that there are no sworn or certified translators in Britain. For the British authorities and insurance companies to accept German to English certified official translations of certificates of good standing (Unbedenklichkeitsbescheinigungen), a qualified translator and member of a professional institute like the Chartered Institute of Linguists or the Institute of Translation and Interpreting certify their own translations. These translations are subsequently accepted for all purposes by the Home Office, British courts, all other UK government bodies and by banks and other financial institutions.
The Home Office, courts and financial institutes approve certified translations of all official documents supplied by a professional translator resident in the UK provided:
- The translator is a full member of an official professional language association, for example the Institute of Translation & Interpreting (ITI) and the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL).
- Or the translator work for a language agency that is a full member of the Association of Translation Companies.
