English-Russian translator, Bristol, UK
Yulia Tsybysheva BA MSC MCIL
I am Yulia Tsybysheva BA MSC MCIL. Based in Bristol, I have been an English-Russian translator since 2006. I also undertake work as an interpreter, proofreader and editor.
Mostly, I translate for businesses. The areas I specialise in include marketing as well as environment and sustainability issues. I also provide certified English to Russian translation services.
In the past 11 years, the range of clients I have worked for has been extremely diverse, including international consultancies, luxury fashion brands, environmental NGOs, airlines, magazines and a publishing house.
Qualifications and membership of professional institutes
As for my qualifications, I hold a BA in Linguistics and Translation (2003-2008) from the Ural State University, where I also completed a postgraduate course in International Business.
In 2008 I took the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English exam, achieving the highest grade (A). I completed an MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of Exeter in 2011. Since then I have worked closely with a number of environmental organisations both in Russia and in the UK.
I became a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists in 2014.
Freelance English-Russian translator
Throughout my translation career I have provided a huge variety of English to Russian translations. Assignments included translating technical manuals and website content, magazine articles and non-fiction books from English into the Russian language. I am constantly aware that every job and every client requires a different approach. I am happy to take the time to learn more about my clients’ brands and their guidelines, as well as do research, which is an integral part of the translation process.
As a proficient user of SDL Trados Studio 2014, a software that ensures consistency, I am aware that translation software is especially important for larger and more technical projects.
I work as a UK-based English-Russian translator in the following areas:
- Business and finance: reports, proposals
- Legal: contracts, agreements
- Marketing: website content, advertising campaigns, product catalogues
- Technical: user manuals, instructions
- Environment and sustainability: educational materials, evaluation reports, environmental impact assessment reports
- Certified translations: passports, certificates, diplomas
Having worked for a wide range of clients, I can take on projects in a variety of areas, but I am never complacent about my skills. If I am not entirely comfortable with the subject area, and I feel that I wouldn’t be able to deliver a high-quality translation, I’d rather refer my clients to colleagues who specialise in a particular area.
